Why travel to Kutná Hora?
Kutná Hora is a dream for history lovers, architecture buffs and anyone looking for something a bit different. The city’s crown jewel is the spectacular St. Barbara’s Church, a Gothic masterpiece that rivals anything in Prague. The Sedlec Ossuary (Bone Church) is both haunting and beautiful, decorated with the bones of thousands in intricate patterns. Wander the old town for Renaissance courtyards, the Italian Court’s royal mint museum and panoramic views from the Church of St. James. It’s easy to explore on foot and the town has a relaxed, small-city vibe with plenty of cafes and quirky shops. A few notes: Kutná Hora is popular for day trips, so main sights can get crowded, especially in summer. Some attractions charge extra for photography. The town is hilly with cobblestones, so bring comfy shoes. English is spoken at major sights, but less so in smaller shops. Most places close early in the off-season and some museums or churches may have limited hours outside April–October. Still, Kutná Hora’s mix of history, mystery and charm makes it a must-see in the Czech Republic.

- Don’t skip the Italian Court and silver-mining history – this town grew wealthy from medieval silver.
