Hi, we're Christiane and Simon, colleagues turned friends turned co-founders of travelfilters.com.
Both of us are avid travellers, so we've always been sharing the best destinations, deals and booking tricks during the time we've known each other. Throughout those conversations the sentence "there should be a site that does all of this" came up frequently and that's how travelfilters was born.
Normally we work remotely, but this is us catching up in Porto for a change
Our initial goal was to help people discover new destinations and bundle all the information they'd usually have to research ahead of a trip in one place. The result is our Trip Finder, where you can filter destinations by what you think is most important, from the climate in your travel month to how good the vegetarian scene is. We also wanted to bring back a bit of the old-school internet vibe, when websites used to have more of a unique character to them and you'd fall into a multi-hour rabbit hole after discovering a new page. Ideally, you'd enjoy it so much you'd send it to your friends.
While working on this initial setup, we went on a couple of sidequests, because new complementary feature concepts kept coming up here and there. One of these is our Flight Finder that shows you the direct and most convenient locations from your local airport. There are also many more ideas on our list for the future development of the site. We hope you enjoy what we've built so far and would love to get your feedback. Feel free to tell us what you like, what you think should be improved or where there might be a bug or incorrect information. We appreciate it!
