Why travel to Chania?

Chania is a dream for travelers who love a mix of history, food and nature. The old town is a living museum, with Venetian, Ottoman and Greek influences woven into every alley and square. Sip coffee by the harbor, wander through bustling markets and discover hidden churches and museums. The food scene is a highlight – think fresh seafood, local cheeses and Cretan specialties in cozy tavernas. Beyond the city, you’ll find world-famous beaches like Balos, Elafonissi and Seitan Limania, as well as hiking in the dramatic Samaria Gorge. Chania is generally safe and welcoming, but it’s very popular in summer – expect crowds and higher prices, especially in July and August. The sun is strong, so bring protection and be cautious if driving, as local drivers can be unpredictable and parking is tight in the old town. Some beaches and gorges get crowded, but the scenery is always worth it.

How to get around Chania
