Why travel to La Rioja?
La Rioja is synonymous with exceptional wine, boasting over 500 wineries that produce some of the world's most celebrated reds. But there's so much more than just wine tasting here. The region is deeply connected to the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrim route, with the UNESCO World Heritage Monasteries of Suso and Yuso in San Millán de la Cogolla marking the birthplace of the written Spanish language. The landscape is incredibly diverse for such a compact region - you can explore picturesque vineyard-covered hills, hike in the Sierra de la Demanda mountains, relax in thermal baths in Arnedillo or wander through charming medieval villages. Logroño, the capital, offers an amazing food scene, particularly along Calle del Laurel where you can enjoy the local tradition of 'tapeo' (tapas crawl). What makes La Rioja special is how accessible everything is - you can experience wine country, mountains, historic sites and culinary delights all within short distances.
