Why travel to Garda?

Garda is perfect if you want the best of Lake Garda without the crowds of bigger resort towns. The lakeside promenade is lined with cafés and gelaterias and the old town is full of boutiques and trattorias. You can rent a bike to explore the lake’s edge, hike up to Rocca di Garda for panoramic views or take a boat to neighboring villages. The area is famous for its olive oil and Bardolino wine and the weekly market is a feast for foodies and souvenir hunters. Just be aware that Garda gets busy in July and August, especially on weekends and parking can be a challenge. The lake water is clean but can be chilly outside midsummer and the weather can change quickly – bring a light rain jacket. Still, Garda’s relaxed vibe, beautiful setting and easy access to the rest of the lake make it a favorite for all kinds of travelers.
