Why travel to Chamonix-Mont-Blanc?

Chamonix is legendary for a reason. In winter, it’s a mecca for skiers and snowboarders of all levels, with everything from gentle slopes to the legendary off-piste Vallée Blanche. Summer brings a different kind of energy: hikers, climbers and paragliders fill the trails and skies and the Tour du Mont Blanc trek passes right through town. The Aiguille du Midi cable car whisks you to jaw-dropping heights for views across France, Italy and Switzerland – and if you’re brave, you can step out onto the glass 'Step into the Void' platform. Off the slopes, you’ll find spas, great food, shopping and a lively après-ski scene. Downsides? Chamonix can be expensive, especially in high season and the weather changes fast – always check the forecast and be prepared for sudden snow or storms. Crowds can pack the town during holidays and mountain activities come with real risks: always take local advice, know your limits and consider hiring a guide for glacier or off-piste adventures.
