Scenic coastal highway loops and remote volcanic island roads in Oceania

Oceania has long, empty roads and very little traffic once you leave the cities, which makes it a relaxed and fun place to explore on two wheels.

In Australia, the Great Ocean Road in Victoria has sea cliffs, surf beaches and plenty of curves, and it is an easy ride from Melbourne. Tasmania is a favorite with local riders, with twisty mountain roads, green valleys and quiet towns that are never far apart. For something bigger, a trip into the Outback on a sealed road like the Stuart Highway shows just how huge and empty the country really is. New Zealand packs a lot into a small space, and the roads around the Southern Alps, the West Coast and the Coromandel Peninsula have one great view after another.

Wildlife like kangaroos often crosses roads in Australia around dawn and dusk, so it is safer to avoid riding in the countryside at those times.
