Ancient Towers and Alpine Adventures

Mestia is a mountain town in Georgia’s Svaneti region, high above the Caucasus peaks. At over 1,500 meters, it sits among dramatic granite cliffs and glaciers that shape daily life. Locals rely on farming and tourism to support the community. The town features stone towers built centuries ago for protection against invaders. Winter brings heavy snowfall while summer offers hiking trails leading into remote valleys. Mestia’s location makes it a gateway for treks through UNESCO-protected landscapes where traditional Svan culture remains visible in daily routines and language.
