Why travel to Batumi?

Batumi is much more than just a beach resort. Its long seaside promenade is alive with sculptures, street art and cafes, while the old quarter offers a tangle of charming streets, bars and colorful architecture. The city’s skyline is a wild mix of old Russian mansions, Soviet mosaics and futuristic skyscrapers-plus, you can’t miss the moving ‘Ali & Nino’ sculpture or the Alphabet Tower. Beyond the city, you’ll find the lush Batumi Botanical Garden, ancient Gonio Fortress and easy hikes in the subtropical hills. Batumi’s nightlife, food scene and café culture are buzzing and the region’s Adjarian cuisine is a real treat. But be ready for humid, changeable weather (it rains a lot!) and know that the main beaches are pebbly, not sandy. Summer brings crowds and some neighborhoods feel overbuilt or a bit rough around the edges. Still, Batumi’s mix of seaside fun, nature and quirky culture is hard to beat for a few days or a longer stay.

Batumi is generally safe, but watch your belongings in crowded areas and on public transport. Some nightlife spots can get rowdy late at night. Be cautious crossing busy streets and avoid swimming during storms.
Health & Medical
6
Medical care is good, with clinics and pharmacies throughout the city. Tap water is officially treated but may taste different — bottled water is widely available. Mosquitoes can be a nuisance in summer, so bring repellent.
Accessibility
5
Most main attractions and the boulevard are accessible, but some old town streets are uneven or cobbled. Public transport is improving but not always wheelchair-friendly. Check hotel and attraction accessibility in advance if needed.
Tap water
6
Tap water is safe for brushing teeth and washing, but most visitors prefer bottled water for drinking. Public fountains are rare, so carry a refillable bottle, especially in the heat.
