Why travel to Lake Louise?

Lake Louise is a must-see for anyone who loves wild, dramatic landscapes. In summer, the lake glows a surreal blue thanks to glacial rock flour and you can hike to teahouses, paddle a canoe or just soak up the views. In winter, it transforms into a snowy wonderland for skating, skiing and sleigh rides. The surrounding mountains and forests are packed with trails for all levels and wildlife sightings (think grizzly bears and elk) are not uncommon. But be warned: Lake Louise is no secret. Summer crowds can be intense – arrive early or late to find parking and enjoy some peace. The weather is unpredictable and even in summer, it can be chilly. In winter, roads can be icy and avalanche risk is real on some trails. Still, for sheer natural beauty, it’s hard to beat.
