30,000 islands of Swedish idyll

Stockholm’s archipelago stretches across more than 30,000 islands and islets along Sweden’s eastern coast. The waterways connect the city center with quiet villages where wooden houses line calm bays. Visitors can reach many spots by ferry or small boat, making exploration flexible without heavy crowds. In summer, wildflowers grow on rocky shores and seabirds nest in sheltered coves. Winter brings snowy landscapes and opportunities for ice-skating on frozen channels. The mix of urban life and open water creates a place where people live close to nature year-round.
