Best yoga destinations in North America

Quiet desert spaces and peaceful mountain valleys in North America

Dramatic desert and coastal landscapes anchor much of North America's yoga retreat reputation, built around scenery as much as the practice itself. Warmer regions further south add an affordable, tropical alternative.

The destinations on this list range from established American retreat centres with decades of teaching history to newer Central American retreats built specifically around accessible pricing and tropical settings. Some require significant commitment. Others offer flexible, drop-in style schedules.

Checking cancellation policies before booking matters more than usual here, since many of the region's most popular retreats require substantial deposits months in advance. Many also build in free time for hiking or exploring nearby towns. Packing layers also matters considerably given the temperature swings between day and night. Many retreats also offer optional excursions nearby.
