Best street food destinations in Oceania

Vibrant night markets and coastal food stalls in Oceania

Street food is a newer tradition in Oceania than in some other regions, but its cities have built a lively scene around markets and food trucks in a fairly short time.

Australia's bigger cities lean heavily on food truck culture, with rotating lineups parked near parks, events and busy laneways that change from week to week. New Zealand favors a similar mix, often built around weekend markets rather than daily street stalls, with a strong focus on fresh, local ingredients. Across the Pacific islands, street food tends to be simpler and more informal, built around fresh seafood, fruit and family run stands rather than organized markets. Prices vary a lot depending on how developed the local food scene is.

The street food destinations on our list for Oceania reflect that same mix of organized markets and smaller, informal stands.
