Why travel to Natal?

Natal is famous for its stunning coastline – think endless beaches like Ponta Negra and Genipabu, where you can ride dune buggies or even camels or just sip coconut water with your toes in the sand. The city’s nickname, 'City of the Sun,' is well-earned: you’ll find blue skies and perfect beach weather nearly year-round. Beyond the beaches, Natal offers lively festivals, a rich mix of indigenous and colonial history and unique attractions like the world’s largest cashew tree in nearby Pirangi. The local food scene is a treat, especially if you love fresh seafood and tropical flavors. On the flip side, like many Brazilian cities, you need to be mindful of safety-don’t carry valuables on the beach and stick to well-trafficked areas, especially at night. Some areas can be crowded in high season and English isn’t widely spoken, so a bit of Portuguese goes a long way. But for sun, adventure and a taste of Brazil’s easygoing spirit, Natal is hard to beat.
