Why travel to Pucon?

Pucon is a magnet for outdoor lovers and thrill-seekers. You can climb the (active!) Villarrica Volcano, raft wild rivers, trek in national parks or relax in natural hot springs. The scenery is jaw-dropping-think snow-capped peaks, deep blue lakes and ancient Araucaria forests. Mapuche culture adds a unique touch and the town itself is full of cozy cafés and friendly vibes. But be prepared: the weather is unpredictable and rain is common even in summer, so always pack for wet and chilly conditions. Villarrica is one of South America’s most active volcanoes, so check local safety updates before planning your climb. Pucon is safe and welcoming, but it gets crowded in Chilean summer (December–March) and prices can spike. In winter (June–August), it transforms into a ski and snow sports hub.
