Why travel to Puerto Iguazú?

The main reason to come is, of course, Iguazú Falls – one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a UNESCO site. The Argentine side lets you get up close to the thundering cascades via a network of trails and catwalks, with panoramic viewpoints, boat rides and plenty of wildlife (think toucans, coatis and butterflies). But Puerto Iguazú itself has its own charm: stroll the handicraft markets, sample local food or visit the Hito Tres Fronteras, where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet. Nature lovers will enjoy Güira Oga wildlife refuge and hummingbird gardens, while culture buffs can explore indigenous crafts at La Aripuca and Culturas Park. A few things to keep in mind: Puerto Iguazú is humid and hot year-round, with sudden rain showers – pack light, breathable clothes and a rain jacket. The town is safe and friendly, but as with any tourist hub, keep an eye on your belongings in crowded areas. Mosquitoes can be a nuisance, so bring repellent. The town is small and English is spoken in most tourist spots, but knowing a little Spanish helps, especially in markets and with taxis. The falls and main attractions get crowded in peak season and on weekends – arrive early for the best experience.
