Most famous theater destinations in Oceania

Iconic waterfront performing arts centers and historic drama theaters in Oceania

An iconic sail-roofed performance venue has become as much an architectural landmark as a theatre, recognisable even to people who've never seen a show there. Its rotating programme spans opera, ballet and contemporary performance across multiple venues within the building.

The destinations on this list range from iconic harbourside performance venues with a packed international programme to smaller regional arts centres built around local and touring productions. Both reflect a relatively young but increasingly confident performing arts culture.

Booking a behind-the-scenes tour alongside a performance tends to add real context, particularly for first-time visitors. Such tours run throughout the day, offering useful context for visitors who can't attend an evening show. Dressing smartly also remains expected at several of the more formal evening performances.
