Vietnam Airports

Vietnam, a Southeast Asian country known for its stunning landscapes, rich history and bustling cities, is served by a well-developed network of airports facilitating both domestic and international travel. The country’s three main airports – Noi Bai in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang International – serve as key gateways linking northern, southern and central Vietnam to the rest of the world. These hubs accommodate millions of passengers each year, supporting Vietnam’s booming tourism industry and growing economy. Alongside major carriers, a range of popular low-cost airlines operate in the market, increasing accessibility and affordability for travelers. The airports efficiently connect urban centers with nearby cultural sites and natural attractions, making travel across the country and beyond easier and more convenient.

Vietnam’s airport infrastructure plays a vital role in enhancing connectivity within the country and expanding its global links, helping to position Vietnam as a top travel destination in Asia.

Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), located about 30 kilometers north of Hanoi, is the main international airport serving northern Vietnam and the country’s capital. As Vietnam’s second-busiest airport, Noi Bai connects travelers to numerous Asian, European and Oceanic destinations, handling over 30 million passengers annually. It serves as a hub for Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines and VietJet Air. The airport features two modern passenger terminals with a range of amenities such as lounges, dining, duty-free shopping and efficient transportation options including buses and taxis linking to Hanoi city center and surrounding cultural sites like Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) is Vietnam’s largest and busiest airport, located just 8 kilometers from downtown Ho Chi Minh City. It handles the majority of international flights into southern Vietnam and serves as the main hub for Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Bamboo Airways. Tan Son Nhat operates two terminals dedicated to international and domestic flights, offering extensive connections to Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. Despite operating beyond capacity, it provides essential services such as lounges, shops and dining options, as well as efficient ground transport including taxis and shuttle buses.

Da Nang International Airport (DAD) serves the central region of Vietnam, including tourist hotspots like Da Nang city, Hoi An and Hue. It has seen rapid growth in traffic and services, welcoming over 15 million passengers per year. Da Nang Airport offers both domestic and international flights operated by carriers such as Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Bamboo Airways, connecting central Vietnam with other parts of the country and neighboring countries. Ground transportation options for travelers include taxis and shuttle buses to the city and tourist destinations.

Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) on Phu Quoc Island caters to the island’s booming tourism market, connecting travelers directly via domestic and international routes to countries including China, Korea, Thailand and Singapore. The airport has modern facilities and handles millions of passengers annually, allowing visitors to bypass transit through Ho Chi Minh City.

Additional airports like Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) near Nha Trang, Can Tho International Airport (VCA) in the Mekong Delta and Hue International Airport (HUI) add to the air network, facilitating regional and tourist travel. Budget airlines such as VietJet Air and Bamboo Airways have played a significant role in making air travel more affordable and accessible across Vietnam, contributing to the country's aviation growth.

Overall, Vietnam’s mixed airport system with major international hubs and secondary airports ensures ample connectivity for both leisure and business travelers, balancing growing passenger demand with expanding airline services, while continuing infrastructure upgrades to meet future growth needs.
