Welcome to our Trip Finder!

This trip destination finder tool is a collection of cities, villages and regions worldwide that you can filter down by what matters to you when looking for travel destinations. We have grouped the filters into categories to make it easier for you to navigate the many options. You can choose from area, travel time, place type, activities, price limit, climate, safety concerns, transportation preferences and other personal preferences. All the places that we currently have on the site have individual scores on all of the categories the tool covers. It is completely up to you how many filters you use, everything is optional. Once you make a selection of filters, the algorithm calculates a total score for the filters you have chosen and ranks the destinations based on the highest total score.

As a result, you should see a list of places that fit your filter selection the best. If you realise that a filter is missing (for example you see a lot of expensive places, but need to watch your budget) you can simply add an additional filter and the algorithm will recalculate the list. The same goes for filters you want to deactivate. The results should change in seconds after you make your changes, so you can fine-tune everything as you like. If you use many filters that cover very rare attributes of places or you use contradictory filters, you will see the overall match score going down, but the tool will still always go for the option of showing you the best possible match regardless.

Once you are happy with the list, you can go and have a detailed look at the places that the tool has found for you. A click on the ‘Details’ button opens up the short profile of a place for a quick sense of what the place is like. If you want to take a deeper dive, just click on the ‘To detail page’ button and it takes you to the full profile of the destination. If a place catches your eye and you want to save it to a list for future reference, the ‘Save’ button will do that for you. You will need to set up a free travelfilters account to be able to save lists.

In case you need more options than the standard view offers, just click the button ‘Switch to advanced filters’ and you can weigh your options and use more granular filters that make the selection of places even more accurate.
