Best diving destinations in Europe

Dalmatia
Adriatic Coastline of Ancient Wonders
8.6
Ships have crossed this stretch of the Adriatic since Greek and Roman times. Some sank over the years and became wrecks for divers to explore. Near islands like Vis, walls covered in sea fans and sponges drop into deep blue water. Caves and clear water add more variety.
Highlights:
  • 🚤 Island-hop to hidden gems like Koločep and Lopud
  • 🏰 Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trogir’s Old Town
  • 🌅 Walk along the ancient city walls of Dubrovnik for panoramic views
Azores
Volcanic Isles of Atlantic Wonders
8.5
Princess Alice Bank is an underwater mountain far out in the Atlantic. Divers meet mobula rays, sharks and big schools of fish at its top. Closer to shore, the islands have lava caves and clear water over volcanic rock. This island chain has dive sites for beginners and experts alike.
Highlights:
  • 🍵 Visit Europe’s oldest tea plantation at Gorreana
  • ♨️ Relax in the thermal waters of Caldeira Velha
  • 🥾 Hike through the volcanic landscapes of Sete Cidades
Silfra
Pristine crystal waters between tectonic plates
Water this clear looks unreal. Divers can see over 100 metres along blue rock walls. This fissure is in Thingvellir National Park, where two tectonic plates pull apart. The water is glacial and very cold, so divers wear dry suits. Some spots are narrow enough to touch both plates.
Highlights:
  • 🌅 Capture sunrise over the rift valley
  • 🏞️ Explore the Þingvellir National Park landscape
  • 🤿 Dive through crystal‑clear Silfra fissure
