Haiti Airports

Haiti’s airport network is centered around a handful of key hubs that support both international and domestic travel across this Caribbean nation. The country is served by a primary international airport located near the capital city of Port-au-Prince, with additional international and regional airports in the north and south. This network allows Haiti to maintain vital connections for tourism, commerce and local transportation. Haiti’s geography, with mountainous regions and coastal cities, makes air travel essential for efficiently connecting distant communities. The main airports offer links to North America, the Caribbean and limited domestic service. Despite challenges related to infrastructure and security, modernization efforts continue to improve facilities and air services throughout the nation.

Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP) is Haiti’s busiest and most significant international gateway, located approximately 6 kilometers northeast of Port-au-Prince's city center. Named after the Haitian revolutionary leader, this airport serves as the principal hub for both international and domestic flights. It hosts major airlines such as American Airlines, JetBlue and Air Caraïbes, providing connections primarily to the United States, Caribbean islands and parts of Central America. Despite its critical role, PAP has faced security challenges in recent years, but ongoing renovations and a new terminal aim to modernize the infrastructure, enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency.

Cap-Haïtien International Airport (CAP) is Haiti’s second-largest airport and serves as the northern gateway to the country, located near the historic city of Cap-Haïtien. This airport is strategically important for tourism, offering access to famous landmarks like the Citadelle Laferrière and Sans-Souci Palace. It handles international flights, particularly from the United States and the Caribbean and is generally less crowded than the capital's airport, making it a preferred entry point for visitors to northern Haiti. Cap-Haïtien Airport supports regional economic growth and tourism, with connections to smaller domestic locations.

Antoine-Simon Airport in Les Cayes represents Haiti’s newest international airport, inaugurated in 2025 after major renovations. Situated in the southern part of the country, it relieves traffic pressure from Port-au-Prince and offers a calmer alternative for travelers avoiding unrest in the capital. This airport supports both international and domestic flights and is vital for economic development in the southern region, including tourist access to nearby islands such as Île-à-Vache.

Additional domestic airports like Jérémie Airport and Jacmel Airport provide critical connections to southern and coastal regions. These smaller airports mainly serve domestic flights and charters, linking remote communities to Haiti's main travel hubs. There are also numerous makeshift and smaller airfields throughout Haiti, which have been crucial in emergency relief operations and provide access to less accessible areas.

The airline Sunrise Airways acts as a key domestic and regional carrier in Haiti, operating hub services primarily from Toussaint Louverture International Airport. It connects various domestic destinations and nearby Caribbean countries, filling gaps in air service where infrastructure constraints limit larger carriers.

Notably, while Haiti does not currently have a distinctly popular low-budget airport, airports like Cap-Haïtien sometimes offer generally lower-cost options for flights compared to the capital. Travelers often choose it for budget-friendly alternatives and more straightforward travel into northern Haiti.
