Best LGBTQ+ friendly destinations in Europe

Famous historic pride districts and inclusive neighborhood quarters in Europe

Europe offers some of the world's most established LGBTQ+ friendly destinations, alongside real variation from country to country.

Western and Northern Europe are generally considered among the most welcoming regions anywhere, with cities like Amsterdam, Berlin and Madrid known for long standing communities, major Pride events and strong legal protections. Southern Europe has caught up quickly too, with Lisbon and Barcelona both building well established scenes of their own. Parts of Eastern Europe have moved in the opposite direction in recent years, with some countries introducing more restrictive laws, so checking current conditions before a trip is worth doing. Sticking to well known, established hubs tends to offer the most relaxed experience, especially for a first visit to the region and its many cities.

The destinations on our list for Europe reflect that same mix of long standing icons and newer, fast growing scenes.
