Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Half-timbered streets and a walkable town wall

The Plönlein is a small square where two lanes meet at a half timbered house. Town walls from the 1300s still circle the old town and you can walk on top of them. Try a Schneeball, a ball of crisp pastry dusted with sugar. Come early to have the lanes to yourself.

Bamberg

Regensburg
